Height

Similar to leaf color and texture, abrupt changes in height provides contrast, delineating groups of plants and keeping the garden visually organized and tidy. However, a gradual change in height can provide support for plants that may otherwise flop to the ground unless staked or hard-pruned. Use our subcategories when planning, and please note that many tall plants can be cut several weeks before bloom or immediately after bloom to control height.
